Overview
The International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) is a global competition for students aged 16-19 participating to test their knowledge, skills, and appreciation for geography. Spanning over multiple days, it is the premier competition for high school geographers.

Format & Testing
The iGeo tests candidates through three primary assessments:
- Written Response Test: Assessing general and comprehensive geographic knowledge.
- Multimedia Test: Focused on map, image, and data interpretation dynamically.
- Fieldwork Task: Testing candidates' practical ability in unknown geography and mapping.
Participation & Eligibility
Participation involves rigorous tiered qualification:
- Open primarily to the top high school participants winning the National Geography Olympiads for their respective nations.
- Usually four students form part of each international participating team representing their country.
