The Uzbekistan Geography Olympiad is a national-level academic tournament aimed at identifying, nurturing, and rewarding the brightest geographic talents across all regions of Uzbekistan. The competition acts as the primary selection mechanism for the national team representing the country at international events such as the iGeo.
Format & Testing
The national Olympiad involves extensive evaluation over distinct stages:
- Regional & District Qualifiers: Standardized written tests covering curriculum fundamentals and local geography.
- National Final Stage: A multi-day event mimicking the iGeo format featuring an intensive written examination, multimedia analysis, and practical field work.
Participation & Eligibility
Participation involves rigorous tiered qualification:
- Open to high school students (grades 9 through 11).
- Participants must advance through school-level, district-level, and regional-level barriers to reach the Republic stage finals.
- Students competing often receive dedicated mentoring from leading geography educators in Uzbekistan.
